SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for all aspects of business within a specific production system which includes production of a high quality product at the varies levels of the production system in a timely manner while maintaining a safe work place and clean environment. Specific duties include producing cost savings ideas generation of CIRs an active role in creating annual budget and detailed interaction with technical services concerning the genetic pyramid. Other responsibilities include directing and providing leadership to Team Members spending budgeting the safety of all farm Team Members the biosecurity of the unit and farm and all environmental issues including pit and lagoon level compliance water quality air quality and waste removal. Pod Business Managers are expected to have a complete knowledge of the animal flow targets ventilation feeding and vaccination protocols. Other requirements are ensuring customer satisfaction PQA and facility and dwelling maintenance. Other duties include implementing and monitoring policies and procedures including standard operating guidelines and human resources policies and procedures; reporting production numbers environmental numbers safety issues accidents and human resources issues timely and accurately as well as any other duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor s degree or equivalent
Experience: 6 plus years of experience in live swine production management or live animal production operational management
Computer Skills: Standard computer skills including Microsoft Office; strong Excel skills is a plus
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Special Skills: Ability to build working relationships with Team Members and Contract Producers that foster open communication increased productivity and cost competitive products
Supervisory: This position is responsible for managing several groups of Team Members who perform somewhat diverse tasks in more than one department
Travel: More than 12 domestic trips yearly.
