The primary responsibility of the Substance Abuse Worker position is to provide support/intervention to individuals receiving services through the Outpatient Services program. The Substance Abuse Worker will follow up with referrals from JFK Admission Department, Inpatient Units at JFK-ADATC, and the Outpatient Services clinician and provide recovery-based support services to individuals in both the Outpatient Services clinic and within the community.
In addition, the Substance Abuse Worker will assist with the following:
- Facilitate recovery support groups.
- Support individuals in identifying and removing barriers to their recovery.
- Advocate for individuals and helping them develop self-advocacy skills.
- Provide support by phone and in-person to individuals receiving both pre-admission/post-discharge Peer Support services.
- Complete documentation related to the support provided, including progress notes completed after each interaction with specified patient.
- Complete all trainings as assigned.

- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND one year of experience working with individuals who are undergoing treatment for substance use disorders, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Management Preferences:
- Valid NC Driver's License
- North Carolina Peer Support Specialist Certification
- History of sustained recovery experience
