Are you someone that has lived experience with mental health challenges? Would you like to use that experience to support others? If so, we have an amazing opportunity for you!
On the Road to Wellness is a leading peer-to-peer mental health organization dedicated to supporting individuals on their wellness journey. We remove barriers to personal recovery from mental health related struggles by connecting individuals to resources, educating them on various features of wellness, and supporting them as they advance toward their individual wellness goals.
We are seeking one qualified individual to join our team at our Step-Up Step-Down housing program.
Our Step-Up Step-Down program is a 120-day, 24-hour, non-clinical and recovery-oriented wellness program with a housing component. It is intended to provide person-centric support to individuals who are either faced with being admitted to an intensive in-patient program (Step-Up) or are ready to transition out of one and back into the community (Step-Down).
Residential Peer Support Specialists will receive training on a variety of Peer Support modalities and recovery-oriented tools and strategies including, but not limited to, Intentional Peer Support, SAMHSA’s Core Competencies, Action Planning for Prevention and Recovery, and Whole Health Action Management. Using their experience and training they will plan and facilitate on-going Peer Support Activities for guests to participate in and provide on-going support and genuine care throughout their stay.
As a part of our Step-Up Step-Down team, you will work closely with others, as well as independently, to create and maintain a safe, peaceful, and learning environment for guests and colleagues. You will spend your time building strong connections through skillfully sharing your lived experience and encouraging guests to actively participate in moving forward in their recovery. You will offer 1-to-1 support to guests, investing in their individual wellness goals by coming alongside them to assist in locating appropriate resources and motivating them toward their eventual independence.
