New Hire Bonus $ 2500 - Don't delay! (terms and conditions apply ) the Center for Health and Recovery (CHR) formerly known as CHEEERS is hiring. We currently have openings in our Outpatient and Community Service Day Program for Peer Support Specialists (individuals with lived experience with mental health and or substance use disorders who have completed peer employment training and obtained certification). New Hire Incentives are paid after demonstration of core competencies and 90 days of employment.
Direct Service Providers (peer Support Specialists) work directly with individuals who seek services at CHR in our Community Service Day program and our Outpatient program and perform a variety of tasks to include, but not limited to: engaging program participants on a daily basis in our center or in the community, facilitation of one-to-one and group services, public speaking and advocacy, teaching, mentoring, coaching individuals with mental health and or substance use disorders, educating and collaborating with clinical teams to ensure an individual's unique needs are addressed.
Peer Specialists who have more than 3 years experience and/ or advanced training in evidence based practices , certifications as facilitators and or a combination of trainings , education in behavioral health will qualify as BHT's at CHR and may be eligible to work within our outpatient program performing navigator type activities, conducting assessments, screenings and outreach.
Peer Support Specialists at CHR have a clearly defined career path that includes the ability to advance and take on more responsibilities. Peers are responsible for providing and documenting the services in our program. We are seeking individuals that value the importance of connection, teamwork, and making a difference in the lives of those we serve. Individuals must demonstrate core competencies for service delivery and must be able to document services in accordance with policy and procedure. Self-awareness, solid coping skills and hard work ethic are traits we seek for those that work at CHR . Experience working in behavioral health is a plus. We are looking for individuals who have strong, established Recovery Supports in place and who have demonstrated consistent recovery behavior and coping skills. Applicants must meet the following qualifications/requirements:
Must be 21 years or older.
Pass a drug, TB, and background screen.
Individuals who have completed peer training and who have prior justice system involvement should not be discouraged from applying due to background screens. Candidates should have resolved legal issues and have no requirements of probation and parole that would interfere with regular and consistent attendance at work.
Must have the ability to exercise professional boundaries and ethics.
Must have ability to type or document services in fast and efficient manner using our Electronic Health Record.
Candidates with extended and solid recovery will be given preference. Candidates must be able to manage the stress and demands of working in the helping profession, with understanding our job is to provide support to those seeking our services.
Must be reliable and able to attend work consistently. As a service provider regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position and directly impacts a person’s confidence and sense of safety in the programs offered by CHR.
1 to 2 years’ experience preferred or education equivalent with focus on mental health and/ substance use disorders.
Direct Service Provider: AZ Credentialed (having successfully completed and passed Arizona's recognized competency exam for Peer Recovery Support Specialist.
