Peer Recovery Specialist for our PROMISE Program

We enhance the quality of life by creatively providing Education, Advocacy, Prevention, Early Intervention and Treatment Services. We promote hope and empowerment to persons and families touched by mental illness, substance abuse, HIV and multiple occurring diagnoses, and their related challenges.
What You'll Do at BCCS as a Peer Recovery Specialist:
- Provide peer support services, serving as a client advocate.
- Provide client information and peer support for clients in a variety of settings.
- Support clients in living their own lives and directing their own recovery and wellness process.
- Model competency in recovery and wellness
- Responsible for providing quality, sufficient, and appropriate services and for maintain high professional standards.
- Educate and empower individuals by assisting them in developing a strong, stable recovery support system.
- Assist individuals with self-care and self-awareness, encouragement and support, teaching coping skills, and teaching the positive benefits of long-term recovery.
- This position is primarily a community-based position, so it requires in home and community visit.
- May need to use your own vehicle if a BCCS car is not available.
Qualifications for the position are:
- REQUIRED: High School Diploma or GED
- REQUIRED: Must be over 18 years of age.
- REQUIRED: Valid driver's license with 2 points or less
- May need to use your own vehicle if a BCCS car is not available.
- REQUIRED: Must be a Peer.
- BCCS employs a diverse workforce, and we especially encourage applications from those who are in recovery. This position requires that the candidate chosen for it is a peer. BCCS defines a peer as anyone who is in recovery from addiction to drugs or alcohol.
- PREFERRED: Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS).
- If you are not certified, certification is required within the first year of employment.
Schedule:
Typically, in the range of 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., but is flexible based on peer and client's availability since this position goes out into the community.
Salary:
Starting at $17/hr. commensurate with experience and education.
