We are seeking qualified candidates for our Peer Support Specialist role to provide peer level support to dual-diagnosis and substance abuse patients; including helping and sustaining recovery.
Responsibilities will include:
- Provide peer level coaching and support to patients by engaging them with community programs and services, particularly substance abuse and dual-diagnosis patients
- Develop supportive relationships that instills hope for recovery and with a focus on the patient’s treatment goals
- Provide a welcome and orientation to newly admitted patients
- Provide engaging education to patients during their stay including at time of admission, during treatment and aftercare, including facilitating recovery-based Peer Support groups
- Ensure patients are following through with after care appointments, including transporting individuals at time of discharge and maintaining communication with after care providers
- Working with the Social Services Department to find acceptable after care services and community based support for patients
- Identify, document, and report any and all instances of adult or child abuse and neglect to the appropriate parties including a member of management, the police, and state agencies
Minimum:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Peer Certification Required
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record
- 6 months of working in a behavioral health setting
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a Peer Support Specialist or Coach
