Job Description
We are seeking a Part TimePeer Support Specialist to join our team at Impact Life. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals as they navigate behavioral health systems and recovery resources. You will assist individuals in developing a strong support network and provide education and empowerment to encourage long-term recovery.
In this position, you will be responsible for conducting support meetings, offering service linkage as specified on the care plan, and responding to emergencies as needed. Your role will involve working directly with individuals to assist with self-care and self-awareness, providing encouragement, teaching coping skills, and highlighting the positive benefits of long-term recovery.
Please note that this position is a floating role, providing support to various locations throughout Sussex County, Delaware. This is a Part Time position requiring a commitment of 20 hours of work per week. In addition, this position requires flexibility to work various shift including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.
Responsibilities- Arrange medical appointments, therapy sessions, support groups, and other resources to aid residents.
- Monitor behaviors, schedules, medications, and activities of individuals
- Report any unusual behavior, conflicts, or deviations from recovery to appropriate professionals.
- Liaise with family members and medical professionals regularly.
- Provide culturally appropriate recovery education and support.
- Refer and link clients to appropriate services, clinical care, and community resources in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with care teams to develop individualized plans for residents.
- Deliver care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that respects diversity and preserves autonomy and dignity.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of proven work experience as a Peer Support Specialist or in a similar role in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, or a related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of compassion and attention to detail.
- Availability to be on-call for emergencies and work on weekends and public holidays as needed
- Relevant training and certifications as a Peer Support Specialist preferred.
