ABOUT THE ROLE
The Payroll Tax Specialist oversees and administers the Payroll Tax and garnishment activities for the company. The person filling this role must be knowledgeable in federal and state employment tax regulations, tax reporting requirements, garnishments and wage and hour compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as primary contact for employee tax withholdings and wage garnishment issues.
- Perform routine audits to ensure accurate withholdings of Federal, State & Local Payroll Taxes.
- Analyze and reconcile tax accounts monthly comparing to balancing reports.
- File all required Payroll Tax deposits and returns accurately, timely, and in compliance with Federal, State & Local laws and regulations.
- Reconcile, approve, and submit all W-2 related data at year-end for each legal entity.
- Balance and upload garnishment files for submission and processing.
- Act as a functional resource for the team as it relates to all Payroll Tax and garnishment issues.
- Ensure processing of tax and GL processes for accurate reporting to accounting.
- Assist with various payroll, tax, and benefit reconciliations and audits.
- Balance tax recon against UKG reports to ensure completeness of the payroll process for weekly & bi-weekly multi-state payroll.
- Complete state tax reports and audits timely.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- 3-5 years’ experience with garnishment Payroll Tax working with multiple EINs and multi-state.
- UKG experience is strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Must be able to work with a team, take direction from manager, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details and follow work rules.
- Must be extremely organized and attention to detail.
- Ability to independently perform multiple tasks consistently meeting strict deadlines.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills and logical thought processes.
