High-level Scope of Job:
The Payroll Services Specialist for Overpayments and Garnishments is responsible for all activities related to Overpayments and Garnishments. Focus of job is to keep accurate up to date records of all overpayments attempts to collect and collection of repayments including vendor relationship for termed employee collections.
Responsibilities:
- Overpayments
- Work all incoming overpayment tickets on a timely basis as defined in Standard Work and PMP.
- Verify overpayment calculations submitted my employees, managers, HR, and payroll
- Create and verify gross and net amounts of overpayments including tax, benefit, and other deductions for each check an overpayment has occurred.
- Correspond with employees receiving overpayments in order to set up repayment plans, by letter (primary), phone or email as needed.
- Set up PeopleSoft to make payroll deductions with applicable.
- Receive and process with Accounts Payable/Finance any personal checks for repayments.
- Send termed employees to collections per overpayment policy.
- Keep accurate up to date overpayment log for tracking and compliance purposes.
- Manage the dispute process for overpayments with the assistance of employee HR, Manager and Payroll Services manager.
- May have contact with Ingersoll Rand Legal team at times.
- Follow Overpayment Policy parameters and standard work.
- Garnishments
- Reviewing legal documents: Thoroughly examine court orders, judgment documents, and other legal papers to understand the specifics of the garnishment and the required actions.
- Work closely with ADP, our Garnishment vendor to ensure proper processing procedures are met. Attend weekly meetings with ADP contact to help with collaboration for garnishment processes.
- Communicating with debtors: Respond to inquiries and provide information to debtors about the garnishment process.
- Maintaining accurate records by updating Garnishment logs appropriately.
- Review ADP Invoices for Garnishment refunds and submit for processing.
- Monitor Cases, mail and CSC for garnishments to be submitted to ADP for processing.
- Timely execution of wage garnishments: Initiate garnishment procedures promptly to ensure timely processing.
- Compliance with legal requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with all legal obligations.
- Resolving issues and disputes by collaborating with ADP contact to handle disputes or concerns related to garnishments, such as discrepancies in calculation, violation of regulations, or debtor complaints. Work towards resolving these issues promptly and efficiently.
- Collaborating with Benefits team when needed for employment verification information for garnishments and Medical support notices of which they complete.
- Maintaining confidentiality and discretion: Handle sensitive financial information with utmost confidentiality and exercise discretion when dealing with personal and financial matters.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Graduate, Associates degree or college courses a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of HR/Payroll or administrative experience.
- Experience with HR systems, PeopleSoft required
- Knowledge of Human Resources operations and policies preferred
- High level MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.) skills are required
- Must be able to identify root cause and provide solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Must have strong quantitative and qualitative skills; detail-oriented with ability to see the big picture and to work effectively at both high and detailed levels

Base Compensation Range is $40,000 to $60,000
