Job Summary


This position serves as the designated genetic counseling assistant within the Cancer Center Clinics’ Hereditary Cancer Program. Incumbent will assist with coordination of care for patients seen by the Hereditary Cancer Program in the Cancer Center Clinics and through the Cancer Care Network, serving as a non-clinical resource and liaison for patients and their families. Providing assistance in research studies and involvement in educational activities will be also expected.

Minimum Qualifications

  • One (1) year of customer/patient interaction experience.
  • One (1) year of customer service experience
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Acquiring knowledge of Patient Rights and Responsibilities, Joint Commission standards, and Centers for Medicare/Medicaid regulations.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Knowledge of data collection, compilation, and analytical techniques.
  • Skills to comprehend and assess patients’ grievances to quickly locate appropriate resources for assistance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or five (5) years experience in cancer- or genetics-related medical setting
  • Experience with patient and/or family contact in a medical setting
  • Experience with clinical projects, either in an administrative or clinical role
  • Proficiency with Epic or other medical record software
  • Proficiency with database software
