Description
Under general supervision, the Parks Development Specialist provides professional support to the Parks and Recreation Department in the planning, design, development and project management of parks and facilities throughout the City. Work involves performing site analysis, developing cost estimates, facility designs, and overall project management.

Examples of Duties
- Prepares master plan for individual parks/facilities; maintains and updates park inventory, updates and follows the General and Strategic Plans of the Parks and Recreation Department; seeks alternative funding; and implements CIP Plans.
- Assists in long range planning, including updating Department Master Plan, ADA Transition Plan, and GIS Data.
- Designs parks, landscape plans; develops original native and water wise plans and supporting documents; assembles master plans, concept drawings, construction documents, project specifications and bid documents.
- Provides project coordination and management; estimates budget; coordinates consultants for projects throughout city and other regulated entities; guides projects through the permitting process; inspects construction projects for conformance to plans and specifications; researches, analyzes and interprets land use data and trends.
- Provides coordination of Development Review Committee, ordinance development and Council meetings. Partners with other department groups to complete citywide initiatives.
- Develops logos/brands/maps for programs and events; keeps website up to date with current project information.
- Meets with residents to gather input and share project information.
- Evaluates existing facilities, defines deficiencies and coordinates the design of new facilities.
Experience and Training
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Landscape Architecture or a related field.
- At least one (1) year of experience in Parks Development or in a similar position.
Certificates and Licenses Required
- Valid Class C Driver's License.
