Under general supervision, is responsible for providing consultation in development related services and projects by applying their advanced knowledge in processing requests or applications. Exercises functional supervision over assigned staff.

- Answers questions and responds to customer inquiries in a timely manner.
- Performs plan reviews for assigned trade and coordinates other commercial plan reviews.
- Coordinates the review of commercial plans and provides construction code consultation regarding residential and commercial development processes.
- Resolves development related issues through interpretation of City codes.
- Assists in monitoring plan submittals to ensure timely service to customers.
- May assist in training other Customer Advocate team members.
- May perform all duties assigned to lower-level jobs.
- Provides technical guidance to lesser experienced staff.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three (3) years of experience processing development related projects or customer service activity.
- Must obtain International Code Council (ICC) Certification as a Permit Technician within one (1) year of employment.
- Certified Permit Technician through the International Code Council.
- Call center experience.
- ICC Zoning Certification.
- ICC Property Maintenance Certification.

- Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
- Applicants selected for employment with the City of San Antonio in this position must receive satisfactory results from pre-employment drug testing and background checks. If required for the position, a physical, motor vehicle record evaluation, and additional background checks may be conducted.
- General knowledge of City Code, Local Government Code, and one or more
construction codes - Advanced knowledge of the current adopted Unified Development Code (UDC)
- Knowledge of administrative functions and processes related to Development Services
