Incumbent is responsible for performing specifically delegated substantive legal work including document preparation and legal research under the direct supervision of an Assistant Prosecutor or the Prosecuting Attorney.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Preparing pleadings and other documents in pending cases as directed and supervised by Assistant Prosecutors in the office;
- Conducting legal research and drafting research memos as directed and supervised by Assistant Prosecutors in the office;
- Opening and closing all case files;
- Scheduling appointments and/or depositions;
- Maintaining schedules and calendars for the Assistant Prosecutors.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Acting as back up receptionist or Administrative Assistant as needed.

Equipment:
- Incumbent uses the following equipment: computer, printer, copier, scanner, copy machine, telephone, laminator, and fax machine.
RESPONSIBILITY:
- Supervisor provides general direction in following established practices and clear-cut policies. Errors in work may disrupt case preparation or fail to provide Assistant Prosecutor’s with required files or information.
PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
- Incumbent has contact with co-workers, employees in the department, public and private sector employees, and the general public. The purpose of these contacts is to communicate with attorneys and provide secretarial support for the department.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical Requirements:
Incumbent performs light work which may require lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds occasionally.
Physical Activity:
Incumbent performs the following physical activities: stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Visual Activity:
Incumbent performs work where the seeing job is close to the eyes.
Job Location:
Incumbent works inside with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
