Job description

  • Oversees all administrative, financial, personnel, and technical functions of a program in an assigned department. Organizes and assigns duties to employees and advises the departmental administrators of the program’s activities
  • Takes a leadership role in designing, implementing, and running various programs in the department and plays a key role in developing departmental virtual care strategy
  • This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of various programs as well as the planning, implementation, and tracking of projects

Responsibilities
  • Manages a suite of services in primary and urgent care, including virtual care
  • Identifies opportunities for optimization and expansion of current services to improve patient care, efficiency of clinical operations, patient access, and provider well-being
  • Foresees emerging patient care needs, care models, technical innovations, and market trends
  • Participates in developing a strategy for the department and manages projects related to implementing the strategy
  • Serves as operational lead for Virtual Urgent Care, managing all day-to-day program responsibilities, such as provider staffing, coordination with partners (e.g. billing office, IT, call center, revenue cycle), training, optimizing workflows, etc.
  • Oversees all operational aspects of virtual visits in primary care, Project CORE (AAMC eConsult and enhanced referral model), and all virtual care programs.
  • Assists the department with clinical-operations improvements and with addressing logistical challenges, such as finding creative ways to hire more providers and see more patients without using additional clinical space/exam rooms
  • Works across multiple clinic locations, developing relationships with clinic leadership and providers, to implement virtual care strategies
  • May prepare an operating budget, which estimates expenditures and monitors and reports the status of the budget on a monthly or annual basis
  • May review expenditures and monitor approval process
  • Coordinates financial and human resource management functions
  • May coordinate the recruiting, selection, orientation, and supervision of staff
  • May obtain necessary equipment and manage the maintenance of physical facilities including buildings and equipment

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related area of assignment or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of assigned department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department.
Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.
