Reporting to the CTO the Operations Director is responsible for the operational side of the business including production, quality management and facilities and supports the sales, engineering, HR and accounting functions within PLX.
We are looking for an Operations Director who is highly motivated and responsible for companywide operations. This individual will report to the CTO, the Operations Director will lead the development and implementation of the company’s operational and strategic engineering goals. The Operations Director will supervise operations/engineering, production, sales and quality teams and the expansion of the business’ proprietary intellectual property portfolio.
Operations
- Have a comprehensive understanding of the operating environment and how changing conditions may affect the business.
- Ensure integrated day-to-day running of Engineering, Production, Quality, TL (Team Leaders), sales, logistics and procurement as well as the efficient and effective use of PLX ERP (Epicor, E11) system.
- Maintain operational control that visually communicates performance in all departments as well as the daily challenges to the CTO.
- Ensure that all aspects of the business are engaged in continuous improvement, regulatory and legal compliance as well as the highest standards of quality and safety.
- As part of the management team understand, review and mitigate risks to the business.
Cost Control
- Take responsibility for financial and operational targets and productivity, including the cost of quality of manufacturing and engineering.
- Understand and deploy the strategy, policies, and financial metrics throughout the company.
Engineering
- Create, communicate and implement engineering processes and procedures.
- Lead the engineering team in converting customer RFQs into workable solutions.
- Manage origination, development and publication of new intellectual property and related patent filings
PLX Group Management Team
- Work with the business development and sales team to generate and evaluate new opportunities.
- Represent operations and production in cross-functional product creation teams.
- Represent and be a key decision maker in relevant interactions with customers, suppliers, and key industry resources.
Qualifications:
- BS and/or MS in Engineering (Preferably ME) with at least 7 years of related experience in a high technology custom production environment is essential. Ideally experience of optics and opto-mechanical systems, tools, and design. Hands-on experience and understanding of optics and opto-mechanical best practices.
- Experience with optical tests such as interferometers, beam profilers, and metrology.
- Understanding of optical concepts such as ray aberrations, waves, diffraction, interference, Gaussian propagation, lasers, imaging, Interferometry etc.
- Proficient at using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SolidWorks or similar.
- Master at setting up, using, and troubleshooting ERP systems (currently working with E11 by EPICOR)
- Knowledge of BAQ a plus
- Knowledge of Ansys and ray tracing a plus.
- Knowledge of IT and programing a plus.
- Able to analyze and synthesize complex or diverse information. Collect and research data. Use mathematical and statistical analysis tools to formulate conclusions and data-driven decisions.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
