Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented New Patient Intake Coordinator to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to facilitate the smooth onboarding process for New Patients, ensuring they receive exceptional care from their first point of contact with our facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
**Responsibilities:**
- Serve as the initial point of contact for New Patients, either in person, over the phone, or via email.
- Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information accurately and efficiently.
- Schedule appointments for New Patients, coordinating with medical staff and specialists as needed.
- Explain registration and intake procedures to New Patients, answering any questions they may have.
- Provide guidance and assistance to patients completing necessary paperwork and forms.
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorizations as required.
- Coordinate with billing and finance departments to ensure accurate billing information.
- Maintain patient records and databases, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Follow up with patients to confirm appointments and provide any additional information or instructions.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure a seamless patient experience.
**Qualifications:**
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in Patient Intake or customer service, is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computer systems and electronic medical records (EMR) software.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance procedures preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Empathy and compassion for patients and their families.
