We are looking to expand our Medical Collections team at our Fort Lauderdale office, where we ensure that every family receives the best client experience and customer service possible.
The role of the Medical Collection Specialist is primarily to investigate medical insurance claim denials, and to follow up as appropriate to collect outstanding accounts receivable balances.

Key Responsibilities
- Identify claim denial reasons and work to have denials overturned.
- Write, submit, and follow-up on appeals.
- Understand proper claim submission requirements for clean claims.
- Identify missing or incorrect data on CMS 1500, and submission of corrected claims to insurance carriers.
- Recognize and work through offsets, retractions, and ERA posting inaccuracies.
- Use of payer websites/portals for claim status, patient eligibility, and benefits
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Strong computer skills are a must.
- Experience in the field of ABA Therapy and Central Reach software experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional and courteous communication style.
- Strong understanding of prior authorization process.
- Comprehension of payer contracts, fee schedules, CPT and Diagnosis Codes.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment; to self-manage and use resources to successfully meet daily and weekly productivity expectations.
- Detail oriented and organized.
- Ability to adapt to change.
- 2-3 years of healthcare billing and/or collections experience.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel
