This position is responsible for the coordination, development and management of FSU Libraries' depository collections. This position plans, schedules, and prioritizes outreach and instructional activities for Government Information.

Responsibilities

Provide daily support to collections development and management duties for FSU Libraries’ depository collections. This includes receiving and processing print depository collections; evaluating, selecting, and reviewing resources that support and enhance current curricular and research needs at Florida State University; managing de-selection and weeding projects; managing FSU’s Center of Excellence collections through the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries; gathering collections usage and services data for improvement of services.
Manages electronic Government Information resources, including FSU Libraries’ membership to the Cataloging Record Distribution Program.
Maintains FSU’s Item Selection Profile in line with curricular, research, and public information needs.
Management and coordination of Government Information outreach events through monthly Government Information displays, blog posts, tabling events, and workshops and instructional sessions
Creates and maintains research guides and webpages for Government Information and related topics, and applicable research skills.
Responsible for training, scheduling, and supervising OPS and Federal Work Students employees.
Provides patron services and public information requests related to depository collections, including instructing patrons about locating Government Information in our collections.
Participates in other department and/or Library projects, events, and outreach activities. Works with colleagues to identify and develop new library services. Serves on committees of the Libraries and the University.
Continuous professional development and training through FDLP Academy webinars and conference events.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalent and six years of experience.
(Note: or a combination of post-high school education and experience equal to six years.)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in academic libraries or a related setting
  • Customer service experience
  • Work independently and to collaborate effectively with multiple units in the library
  • Willingness to learn new workflows and processes related to depository collections and services
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks
  • Experience with applicable computer applications, specifically excel, and other basic computer functions, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience working with Government Information resources
  • Awareness of current trends in Government Information content, formats, and methods of dissemination
  • Experience or interest in planning promotional and outreach projects and events
  • High level of professionalism and commitment to the organization and its mission
  • Maintain familiarity with legal requirements and regulations of State of Florida, United Nations, and United States Federal depository programs, and stay abreast with guidance for depository libraries issued by the United States Government Publishing Office
  • Some familiarity of current issues, trends, and technologies impacting higher education and academic libraries
  • Flexibility in adapting to changing organizational priorities and technological environments

State of Florida Government

The State of The Florida Depository collection are publications of the State of Florida distributed by the State Library and Archives. As the leading academic institution in the Florida capital, FSU has been a State of Florida Depository library since the program was established in 1967. We comply with the Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C. 1B-6.001) that requires us to collect and keep annual or biennial reports of State of Florida agencies and sub-agencies, session laws and statutes of the State, legislative journals, statistical publications of the State covering at least one year, and series publications having monographic titles other than newsletters. All State of Florida laws, statutes, and journals are available in print in the Documents Section in Strozier Library.

Our United Nations collection consists of publications by the main organs, specialized agencies, programs and funds, research and training institutes, and a variety of affiliated and related bodies of the United Nations. Anticipated Salary Range

Starting salary is $38,060; commensurate with experience and education.
