Medical Billing and Collections Specialist

Busy Physical Therapy Clinic is seeking a billing specialist for our friendly front office team. Some tasks can be done remotely if desired, but participation in the office is required. Job will require some receptionist duties as needed, though these will not be your primary task. This is an immediate opening, so prompt replies are appreciated.
Duties:
- Review and analyze medical records and patient information to ensure accurate coding and billing
- Assign appropriate ICD-9 or ICD-10 codes to diagnoses and procedures
- Utilize medical coding systems and software to accurately assign codes
- Verify the completeness and accuracy of documentation in medical records
- Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or obtain additional information
- Follow up on denied claims and resolve billing discrepancies
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies for reimbursement
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations

Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding and billing
- Proficient in ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Familiarity with medical records documentation and coding guidelines
- Experience with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding is a plus
- Ability to navigate electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software

Skills:
- Attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficient in using computer systems for data entry, record keeping, and reporting
