Senior Portfolio Management Specialist (Collections)

Hybrid Position, 3-days per week onsite, 2-days remote


Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm or 8:00-4:30


Non-Exempt, Hourly Pay Rate: $25.00-29.00/hour ($52k-60k). Position eligible for additional incentives including Bonus, 401(k) match, health and welfare benefits, amazing culture, growth opportunity and more!!

What You'll Be Doing:

This highly visible position provides customer support in a fast paced, sales driven organization. The Senior Portfolio Management Specialist provides customer service regarding collection issues, processing and reviewing account adjustments, resolving client discrepancies and modifying existing payment agreements. This position also requires the management of charged off accounts being placed with external collection agencies and will provide direction and responses to National Funding's outside agency vendors. This position dual reports to the Portfolio Management and Legal team and serves as the primary contact for customer concerns.

Responsibilities:

  • Functions as the primary contact for customer concerns regarding situations that would occur after a loan is funded, such as collection issues, unsolicited marketing materials, invoice tracking, account executives, rates, etc.
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining assigned accounts- customer calls, account adjustments, small balance write off, and customer reconciliations.
  • Responsible for managing cases within their portfolio for daily returned payments; includes reaching out to customer to resolve the payment and provide instructions to accounting on how to reprocess the payment.
  • Reconcile customer disputes as they pertain to payment of outstanding balances that are due.
  • Place charged off accounts with low likelihood of collectability with external collection agency.
  • Manage, direct and oversee external collection agency vendors to ensure proper account management and to maximize collectability on accounts placed.
  • Monitor performance of external agency accounts and make recommendations regarding additional placements or selections of new vendors.
  • Accountable for reducing delinquency for assigned accounts, which entails a high volume of phone calls to customers.
  • Enlist the efforts of sales and senior management when necessary to accelerate the collection process.
  • Must communicate and follow up effectively with the Sales Department regarding customer accounts on a timely basis.
  • Prepare monthly delinquency notices
  • Provide excellent and considerate customer service and internal and external customer interface
  • Reviews and approves bank account change requests.
  • Reviews modification request; to include reviewing of financial documents to justify modification request, put together modification details to prevent chargeoff and providing instructions to accounting for modification.
  • Provides on the job training to new employees and acts as a mentor to fellow Portfolio Management Specialists.


An Ideal Candidate Looks Like This:


  • 4-6 years' experience in a high-volume corporate collections environment
  • Knowledge of billing and collections procedures
  • 3-5 years' experience in legal department that handlings collection of accounts and accounts receivable
  • experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent phone etiquette.
  • Critical thinker
  • Requires sound judgment
  • Ability to synthesize information and draw conclusions
  • Ability to discern when confidentiality must be observed.
  • Requires excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize work and shift priorities quickly, and handle multiple assignments and tasks simultaneously.
  • Works independently without direction
  • Applies advanced knowledge and skill to complete a wide range of task
