Position Overview:
We are seeking a creative and motivated scientific/medical writer, to support the development of high-quality scientific reports, manuscripts, abstracts, grants, study protocols, research reports, major collaborative sponsored research proposals, and other related correspondence.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Write compelling grant proposals that clearly articulate our organization's goals and objectives, as well as the impact of our initiatives.
- Manage the grant application process, including submission deadlines, follow-up with funders, and tracking of awarded grants.
- Ensure all scientific documents such as grants, protocol, abstracts, and reports are submitted in a timely and professional manner and that all required documentation is complete and accurate.
- Assist with writing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, adhering to journal guidelines and standards.
- Collaborate with researchers to prepare scientific reports, research proposals, conference abstracts, and presentations.
- Edit and proofread written materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to scientific standards.
- Participate in group meetings to help plan and outline research proposals - objectives and anticipated outcomes.
- Perform literature searches/reviews and write summary reports of findings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in scientific discipline (biology, bioinformatics, genomics, medicine, or a related field) and 3+ years’ experience as a scientific or medical writer, or advanced degree (masters or PhD) in scientific discipline and 1+ years as a scientific or medical writer.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications (e.g., Google Docs, Google Sheets, Word, Excel, Power Point).
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Excellent understanding of medical, scientific, and health-related terms and concepts, and the skills to translate such information into a variety of formats for different audiences.
- Superior scientific writing skills for clarity and conciseness with impeccable attention to detail for accuracy, proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Ability to interpret and present scientific and clinical trial data, as well as understand statistical analyses.
- Strong organizational, research, time and multi-tasking management, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated track record of successful scientific research funding and/or peer-reviewed publications.
- Knowledge of the sponsored research funding landscape including: public and private grants and contracts procedures, policies, and regulations.
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines across a variety of projects, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
