Position Summary: The Manager, Mapping Services position manages, defines, and monitors the Mapping Services, coordinates all data standards, processes, and workflow to ensure that mapping data and services meet requirements. This position also ensures that data, security, and system standards are maintained by all users.
Essential Responsibilities
- Ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and utilization rates of the Mapping team.
- Lead Mapping Technicians and Analysts in managing the production schedule in coordination with the Project Management Organization (PMO), capacity planning, and workforce planning.
- Define policies and procedures to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the team, as well as the security and confidentiality of client data.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to set priorities for the team.
- Resolve issues for the team.
- Train Associates with regards to standardization and methodology for the Mapping team.
- Provide field experience and results with technology methods and collaborate with other Managers in Mapping Services to ensure consistency with standards and methods.
- Prepare and maintain status reports and department metrics.
- Present Mapping Services specific topics during meetings and conferences.
- Production requirements: 15% utilization through client support activities.
- Assist with mapping work, if necessary.
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Geographic Information Systems, or similarly related field OR at least 5 years of experience in GIS administration.
- 4+ years of experience with geospatial data and utilizing the ESRI Suite.
- 2+ years of experience with leading a team and implementing complex GIS based projects.
Preferred:
- Leadership or Management credentials (e.g. CSM, PMP, etc.).
- Fiberoptic/telecom utility experience.
Licenses, Certifications, Training Requirements:
- A valid motor vehicle driver’s license in good standing is required. No DWI/DUI convictions (the previous number of years will be determined by the state in which the license is obtained).
Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors:
- Flow of work involves normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination much of the time.
- Physical demands require occasionally lifting over 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Most assignments are performed in an office type environment.
