The Logistics Coordinator/Driver Manager in this role will enjoy and thrive in a very fast paced entrepreneurial environment. This is a small and growing operation with dedicated fleets as well as diverse fleets. This position will manage and lead the day-to-day operation including working with customers, brokers, operators and company leadership. The overall objective is offering leadership to operators in the effort of maximizing the utilization of equipment through load planning to achieve customer service and business cost objectives as well as maintaining company policies and procedures.
On call hours will be required for this position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, Including, But Not Limited To:
- Adherence and acceptance of a Safety first mindset in accordance with building and maintaining a strong Safety Culture.
- Responsible for maximizing total utilization of equipment and resources while evaluating equipment preventative maintenance schedules, vacation schedules, and daily driver associate capacity.
- Must be able to communicate assignments and schedules to driver associates while evaluating such factors as driver qualifications, product knowledge and training, equipment knowledge and training, hours of service, fatigue, PPE, and grooming.
- Responsible for managing and addressing driver associate training and re-training including daily performance issues as well as performing performance evaluations designed to communicate expectations.
- Strong working knowledge and experience with load boards- securing freight
- Must be able to perform periodic reviews of driver safety performance including pre and post trips, inter-plant safety, and equipment inspections.
- Must be able to receive and document initial accident/incident and injury reporting to include assisting with the preparation of the root cause investigation for each.
- Responsible for scheduling and assisting in preparation and the presentation of driver associate safety meetings.
- Must be able to work with and communicate with all customers and coworkers in a positive, professional and courteous manner.
- Must be able to coach, counsel and teach driver associates how to be successful working within the framework of DOT rules and regulations while adhering to company policies.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Outstanding interpersonal communication skills
- Developed supervisory skills to include decision making, addressing performance issues, and accepting accountability of meeting terminal specific operating objectives
- Excellent organizational skills. Position requires being involved in and handling multiple tasks at once. Coordinate activities with respect to final deadlines
- Must have typing skills. Must have experience with email, internet, Microsoft Office. Experience with satellite communications or Truck Mate/TMW is a plus but not required.
