Position Overview:
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Purchasing Coordinator to join our team in Sarasota, Florida. The Purchasing Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient procurement of materials and services necessary for the construction of our residential properties. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our projects and work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to determine material and equipment needs for residential construction projects.
- Research and evaluate potential suppliers/vendors to ensure competitive pricing and quality products.
- Obtain quotes, negotiate prices, and place purchase orders for materials, equipment, and services.
- Coordinate with suppliers/vendors to track order status, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely delivery of materials to job sites.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, receipts, and invoices in accordance with company procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder materials as needed to support ongoing construction activities.
- Assist in developing and implementing purchasing strategies to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment on project requirements and deadlines.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and new product developments to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Support other administrative tasks and special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to secure favorable terms and pricing from suppliers/vendors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with purchasing software or ERP systems.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of construction materials, building codes, and industry standards is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
