Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Legal Secretary. As a Legal Secretary, you will provide administrative support to our legal team and ensure the smooth operation of our law office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in law and possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
Duties:
- Answer phone calls and direct them to the appropriate staff members
- Greet clients and visitors and provide them with necessary information
- File and organize legal documents, correspondence, and case files
- Assist attorneys with legal drafting, including preparing pleadings, contracts, and other legal documents
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and court hearings
- Maintain attorney calendars and reminder systems
- Handle simple billing tasks
- Perform general clerical duties such as photocopying, scanning, mailing, and faxing
Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a Legal Secretary or in a similar role
- Some knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong interviewing skills for gathering information from clients or witnesses
