Position Overview: As a Paralegal specializing in Personal Injury Law, you will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys in all aspects of personal injury cases. You will assist in case preparation, legal research, client communication, and administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the legal process.
Responsibilities:
- Case Management:
- Assist attorneys in all phases of personal injury cases, from intake to settlement or trial.
- Organize and maintain case files, including documentation, evidence, and correspondence.
- Prepare and file legal documents such as complaints, motions, and pleadings.
- Monitor case deadlines and ensure timely filings.
- Legal Research and Analysis:
- Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Summarize findings and prepare legal memoranda to support case strategies.
- Assist attorneys in analyzing medical records, accident reports, and other pertinent documents.
- Client Communication:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing updates on case progress and addressing inquiries.
- Obtain and organize client information, including medical records and bills.
- Coordinate client meetings and appointments.
- Discovery Assistance:
- Assist in the discovery process by gathering and organizing documents, deposition transcripts, and other evidence.
- Prepare discovery requests and responses under attorney supervision.
- Coordinate with experts, witnesses, and opposing counsel as necessary.
- Trial Preparation:
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and arbitrations.
- Compile trial exhibits, witness lists, and trial notebooks.
- Coordinate logistics for court appearances and trial proceedings.
- Administrative Support:
- Perform general administrative tasks, such as drafting correspondence, scheduling meetings, and maintaining calendars.
- Manage billing and invoicing related to personal injury cases.
- Coordinate with other staff members and external parties to ensure efficient case management.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree required or 5+ years of experience acceptable, Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certification preferred, not required.
- Paralegal certification preferred not required.
- Previous experience working as a legal assistant or in a related field, preferably in personal injury law, (5+ years of experience).
- Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and records preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant state and federal court rules and procedures.
Salary:
$55,000.00 - $75,000.00 (depending on experience and degree)
