This position will work closely with the attorneys in our Chicago office preparing court filings, working with discovery, proofreading documents, maintaining case files, and any other duties necessary to support the attorneys’ needs and the operation of the business. The Legal Assistant will perform a broad range of case related duties under supervision as outlined below.
Primary Responsibilities:
Drafting notices and preparing court filings.
Preparing Discovery Requests and Answering Discovery Requests
Electronic filing and uploading of documents.
Saving e-file-stamped documents to case management system.
Drafting and editing correspondence.
Copying/Scanning/Faxing.
Scheduling depositions.
Corresponding with opposing counsel and court clerks.
Interacting and following up with attorneys to ensure completion of filings and projects.
Document conversions.
Answering Telephone
Relieving receptionist.
Maintaining Condition of Office.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree.
Previous law firm experience required (1 – 3 years).
Previous Family Law experience preferred.
Must be able to work in fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
Must be detail-oriented and possess a high level of organizational skills.
Must be able to meet tight deadlines with accuracy.
Typing 55+ wpm.
Experience with e-filing in state court.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
The ideal candidate must be detail oriented, have superior communication, organizational, computer skills, and be able to multi-task. The candidate must also possess excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and the desire to take initiative.
