Summary Description

• We are looking for a skilled Legal Assistant to assist with estate planning and Family Law-related matters. This is a part-time position with hours 8 am to 12:45 pm Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

• Screening potential clients, keeping clients up to date on their case, scheduling appointments, liaison between clients and attorneys when the attorney is not available.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and appellate documents and file them with the court.
• Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics, etc.).
• Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes.
• Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices.
• Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests.
• Gather relevant information from a variety of sources.
• Provide assistance with case settlements.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal with clients who can be distraught and stressed.
• Proven working experience as a Legal Assistant is preferred.
• Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices, etc preferred.
• Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail.
• Extensive computer and database expertise.
• Valid driver’s license and transportation required due to needing to drop off documents with the courthouse, register of deeds, sheriff’s office, etc.(reimbursement on mileage at IRS rates provided)

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 23.75 per week
