Creenan & Baczkowski, PC is a growing law firm that serves individuals and business in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties. We are looking for a self motivated Legal Assistant to ensure smooth running of the office and effective case management. You will provide a broad spectrum of legal services under the supervision of an attorney, with the main focus on estate administration and planning, civil litigation, and business planning.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to lawyer and enhance office effectiveness
- Coordinate intake for new matters; interview prospects and collect relevant details to assess case
- Handle communication with clients, courts, and counsel
- Conduct investigations and statistical/documentary research
- Draft and assemble legal documents and correspondence such as Complaints, Discovery, Interrogatories, Request for Production of Documents, Preliminary Objections, and legal memos
- Proof reading
- File management
- Answer and direct phone calls
- Maintain contact lists
- Monitor deadlines and juggle calendars
Skills
- Proven working experience as Legal Assistant or legal secretary, preferably with at least 1 year's experience
- Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols, and court system
- Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office
- Computer literacy - including Microsoft products
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Working knowledge of case management software
- Excellent written communication, secretarial, and organizational skills
- Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure
- Strong attention to detail in our work product
- Legal Assistant certification or diploma a plus, but not required
