Summary/Objective
We are a leading defense law firm that is seeking a Legal Assistant to support the appeals department with administrative tasks and provide our clients with high quality service. The Appeals Legal Assistant will support the department by managing the appeals application process and tracking the status of each case submitted for an appeal. This role is responsible for the filing of appeals application in the state of New York, which include electronic filing and physical mailing. Candidates must be able to work in a team environment as well as individually with strong attention to detail and desire for accuracy. Candidates are required to reside in NY or the Jersey City area in order to execute tasks successfully. This position will be in office 1-2 days each week.
Essential Functions

- Prepares and files applications for board review.
- Properly distribute applications to parties of interest, including email and physical mail.
- Ensure all information going out for review are accurate.
- Accurately assign appeals to attorney and track referrals in the firm’s file management system.
- Promptly respond to email correspondences to keep inbox current.
- Track and log notice of decision.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
