The Opportunity:At a time of strategic growth, A Non-Profit Organization seeks a Managing Attorney to oversee the training and Legal Technical Assistance of A Non-Profit Organization's fellows on the West Coast (i.e., Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Hawaii, Alaska, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas.). In conjunction with the Director of Training & Legal Technical Assistance (TLTA), this individual will lead the development of trainings, materials, and playbooks that are subject matter specific and geared towards the West Coast region. In addition, the West Coast Region Managing Attorney will manage and develop content for case rounds, manage all Technical Assistance and legal support for West Coast A Non-Profit Organization Fellows, and plan for West Coast Regional conferences.
The West Coast Region Managing Attorney will work closely with the West Coast Region Fellowship manager to ensure the West Coast Region placed Fellows, and their Host Organization (HO) supervisors, receive timely support and supervision, as well as West Coast Region-driven Technical Assistance.
Responsibilities will include the following:
Management of TLTA Service Delivery & HO Supervisor Engagement?- (80% of Time)
- Manage the development and delivery of subject-specific and West Coast Region legal practice playbooks.
- Oversee materials and content development as well as presentation delivery for A Non-Profit Organization legal monthly training.
- Manage all Legal Technical Assistance and legal supports delivered to West Coast Region Fellows.
- Develop content for TLTA Office Hours
- Review Fellow surveys to ensure training programming accurately reflects the West Coast Region Fellows' substantive needs.
- Connect with and maintain relationships with HO supervisors across the region, including supporting peer-to-peer learning connectivity and supervisory training access.
- Develop and sustain connectivity with A Non-Profit Organization Alumni throughout the region for substantive support and training collaboration.
- Join and monitor West Coast Region practitioner listservs and professional associations for important information to disseminate to West Coast Region Fellows.
- Edit and maintain TLTA training materials such as PowerPoints and Continuing Legal Education materials.
- Support West Coast Region Fellows in obtaining Continuing Legal Education certificates.
- Develop TLTA training lab and trial training programming with the other Regional Managing Attorneys,
- Manage the coordination of West Coast Region and TLTA conferences,
- Coordinate with TLTA Managing Attorneys on technological developments and resources,
- Identify West Coast Region training opportunities.
- Incubate and develop TLTA offerings to meet Fellow demands in West Coast Region legal deserts.
- Directly supervise TLTA Supervising Attorney(s), when hired, including, quality assurance of service delivery and protocol-driven accountability across programming.
Programming Support – (20% of Time)
- Participating in Fellow check-ins.
- Maintaining open and productive communication between Fellowship and TLTA.
- Supporting Fellowship wellness programming.
- Supporting West Coast Region recruitment efforts.
- Providing input in West Coast Region Fellow selection process.
Skills and Experience:
- Juris Doctor (J.D) in the legal field required.
- State bar admission in CA preferred – must be admitted in one of the states listed in the region. (Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Hawaii, Alaska, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas.)
- At least 7 years of experience practicing immigration law as an attorney and familiarity with West Coast Region Immigration Practice
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Must be experienced in designing and preparing presentations and reports for interest groups at all levels of the organization.
- Extensive general practitioner experience (full gamut of immigration benefits knowledge, including removal defense and immigrant child representation).
- Strong legal training and/or Legal Technical Assistance services experience.
- Excellent writing, analytical, organizational, and practice management skills.
- Tech savvy and well-organized project management expertise.?
