Community HigherEd is seeking a Learning Resource Specialist (LRS) with a primary focus on developing Learning Resources and managing and promoting the Learning Resource Center (LRC) within the college (3 campuses) and ensuring that effective resources and informational services are provided to all students, faculty, and staff. The LRS will ensure a polite, efficient, and prompt response to training and support requests generated by student and employee users.
The LRS will provide quality front-line support to students and employees for the Learning Management System (LMS), Canvas. This includes contributing to the development, expansion, maintenance, user training, and user technical support on the Canvas platform. Aid and support new students' device setup during weekly new student orientation. Present LRC and Canvas user training/tutorials to a classroom of students during orientation, providing additional user support as needed.
Minimum Requirements: Requires a High School Diploma or Equivalent. Associate degree or higher preferred. Requires a minimum of one year of related work experience. 1+ years of hands-on experience with Canvas LMS support, preferably in a higher education environment, preferred. This position requires a rotating schedule throughout the week, working between 3 local campuses which requires travel within a 1-mile radius using a personal vehicle. Have a home pc and internet access to support occasional LMS student access in the evenings or when working remotely due to campus closures.

Primary Responsibilities
Learning Resource Center
- To plan and oversee the organization and management of the LRC and promote its effective and efficient use.
- Select, acquire, and maintain the LRC physical and digital Learning Resource collections that best serve the needs of students and faculty; collaborate with faculty in evaluating the accuracy, currency, relevancy, and quality of learning materials (ordering and receipt of new materials, including magazines, software, video and periodicals)
- To organize, catalog, and classify LRC resources to ensure effective retrieval
- Track Learning Resource usage and circulation
- To make the LRC attractive and accessible to all students; ensure shelving of books, magazines, and other materials are displayed in a tidy and orderly manner
- To keep the faculty and school administration informed about the needs and progress of the LRC
- To supervise pupils working in the LRC and to maintain good working conditions for them
Canvas Learning Management System
- Serve as administrator for learning management system, including the running of periodic reports, reconciling active users, etc.
- Provides Canvas, and other learning technologies, training and support to students and faculty users, including 1:1 user tutoring, conducting professional development training sessions, etc.
- Provide troubleshooting and support across learning platforms for all employees and students
- Works with program directors and the Technology department to support educational technology integrations inside of Canvas
- Develop and support information skills within the curriculum, in consultation with the appropriate teaching staff, transcript, and learning management system
- Add/remove employees and students into the LMS, Canvas, and assign program access to faculty
