We are seeking a dynamic individual passionate about sustainable and inclusive community development, driven to use their talents to advance real change, through our focus areas including: K-12 Education, Green Job Training, Solar Energy technical assistance, and Stuyvesant Cove Park.
Job Summary
The Work-Based Learning Coordinator will be responsible for leading a variety of projects and programming on our K-12 Education team. This position is mostly remote, with occasional in-person programming in the NYC metro area. Main job responsibilities include:
Coordinating internships for career and technical education students and occasionally high school students interested in solar industry careers, sustainability careers, and careers at the intersection of climate and other industries.
Developing partnerships, maintaining lasting relationships, and collaborating with fellow organizations and companies in the solar and sustainability industry, and the climate movement.
Co-facilitating CareerSTEP, a job readiness and climate change intensive program designed for NYC-based high school youth.
Track participants' assignments and approve timesheets weekly.
Supporting the Work Based Learning Program Manager in designing and implementing opportunities for youth climate leadership, including but not limited to Solar One's Youth Advisory Council (YAC).
Teaching programs focused on climate solutions and environmental STEM for upper elementary, middle, and high school students in formal and non-formal settings including libraries and summer camps.
Collaborating with the education team on program and curriculum design, including designing slide decks and lesson plans on the nuances of climate change and climate jobs.
Tracking and recording activities delivered to schools and teachers.
Assisting the Work Based Learning Program Manager as needed on projects such as partner events, social media, brainstorming and visioning, program evaluation, data entry, etc.
Qualifications
1-2 years experience teaching middle and/or high school audiences content aligned with STEM, climate action, environmental sustainability
1-2 years experience in internship coordination, work-based learning, and/or job readiness
Ability to work independently in a hybrid setting
Demonstrated success in communicating with partner organizations and individuals to build and maintain strong partnerships
Experience developing curriculum
Administrative experience is a plus

This position is Full Time / Exempt
Paying $60,000-$64,000 per year (salary based on experience)
