TITLE: Early Head Start-Child Care (EHS-CC) Family Services Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Early Childhood Services
LOCATION(S): Brooklyn, New York
REPORTS TO: EHS-CCP Program Manager
SALARY RANGE: $65,000 - $75,000
DATE: September 2023
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 8am-4pm, or 9am - 5pm. Schedule may vary due to program needs.
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for ERSEA & supervision of family services staff for the EHS CCP families and families in the FCC Early Head Start/Head Start Expansion grant. Collaborate with the Early Head Start Program Manager in aligning ERSEA and Family Services across programs.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field or-
  • Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, Early Childhood Education or a related field & a minimum of 3 years work related experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel, knowledge of web-based data system
  • Prior experience with & knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) & interpersonal relationship skills; ability to work effectively as a member of the leadership team
  • Supervisory experience in an early childhood setting
  • Experience establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with Community Stakeholders, Child Care Partners, and others
  • Experience working with low-income families & persons from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Knowledge of community-based organizations
  • Clearance through NY State Central Registry and criminal record background check (DOI Fingerprints) prior to employment
  • Meet all employee health requirements in Article 47 (DOHMH) and Head Start performance standards
  • Obtain Mandated Reporter training certificate (every 2 years) and comply with agency's policy and procedure regarding identification and reporting of child abuse and neglect
  • Some evening & occasional weekend work required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Commitment to promoting positive child & family outcomes through effective service delivery systems
  • Work with Management team in developing and implementing trauma informed approach.
  • Integrate and support Family Advocates with integrating and implementing trauma informed practices and services for families.
  • Supervision of Family Advocates to ensure effective service delivery, compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, up to date child files/records, & timely entry of required data
  • Work closely with the Recruitment and Outreach Specialist to maintain funded enrollment, manage waitlists, increase community linkages and ensure ERSEA compliance
  • Responsible for meeting requirements related to family services according to Head Start Performance Standards; develop & implement service area plans, policies & procedures, & review parent handbooks in collaboration with partners
  • Create and/or update monthly reporting around outcomes related to enrollment and Parent, Family, Community Framework
  • Responsible for ERSEA; maintain confidentiality of all clients; monitor file systems at partners sites of child records, monitor & track ERSEA (Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, & Attendance) records
  • Develop & implement strategies for building peer support networks for families in the program & in the community
  • Build & maintain working relationships with key stakeholders & community agencies for purposes of recruitment, engagement & family support
  • Maintain ongoing communication with partners
  • Work closely with leadership team to develop & implement annual self-assessment, community assessment, ongoing monitoring plans, service area delivery plans and grant renewal applications
  • Support recruitment of Policy Council members & coordination of Policy Council, Site Committee, & Class Committee meetings
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, including meetings, in-service trainings, & conferences; facilitate trainings for partners, EHSCCP staff, & families as needed
  • Participate in planning meetings for the program & the agency; represent the program & the agency in the community
  • Special projects & other duties as assigned

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
  • Successfully clear; NYS DOI Fingerprint Screening, NYS Central Registry Clearance, Sex Offender Registry Clearance, 3 reference checks, physical examination with updated TB test, Tdap, MMR, varicella (fees may apply)
  • Meet all employee health requirements in Article 47 (DOHMH) and Head Start performance standards
  • Mandated Reporter training certificate (every 2 years) and comply with agency's policy and procedure regarding identification and reporting of child abuse and neglect
  • Obtain First Aid/CPR and Preventive infectious diseases certificate within the first year of employment.
  • Meet all health requirements in Article 47 (DOHMH) and Head Start Performance standards.
