Land Specialist **Local Only**

Description:

Vitis Energy is seeking a Land Specialist with knowledge of GIS systems, Real Estate, Title, Permitting and Diligence functions for the acquisition of land for project siting and acquisitions. Familiarity with tools such as Esri ArcGIS to screen potential sites for suitability in acquisition campaigns and perform editing of existing utility datasets, creating maps, file research, data mining, creating data models, management of project mapping and geodatabase information. The position will support siting efforts for utility-scale photovoltaic systems, BESS systems, and thermal systems.. Provide support by developing maps or documents pertaining to project deliverables. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and results oriented. The Land Specialist will have a key role in Vitis Energy’s project development story, and be engaged in working with a focused team to help identify, develop, and expand Vitis Energy’s presence in the energy market.

Duties/Responsibilities(including, but not limited to):

• Spatial analysis is the dominant portion of the job duties envisioned for this position, but will be balanced with a variety of cartography, field staff support, and research and development.
• Provide independent data interpretation while effectively maintaining data documentation and project files.
• Create and modify GIS datasets, manage and maintain legacy GIS datasets develop and implement GIS-based analyses supporting civil engineering, electrical engineering, and survey projects.
• Produce technically skilled and detailed solutions to include preparing clear, complete, and accurate representations of spatial data using hardcopy and/or electronic media.
• Core responsibility includes processing and interpreting site data requests from project team members and anticipating information needs and presentation format as part of engineering and survey workflows.
• You will work on energy projects, such as BESS, solar, and thermal projects to compile available information for project proposals.
• Ensure data meets appropriate data accuracy and content standards for quality assurance and quality control.
• Customize GIS workflow and software programs for data collection, permitting, and environmental applications.

Requirements:

Required Skills/Experience:

• A degree in GIS, environmental studies, or related field with demonstrated capabilities in GIS from an accredited program is highly preferred.
• Understanding of Chain of Title, Surface and Mineral Rights.
• Experience in negotiating land deals with landowners and managers.
• Hands-on knowledge of Esri ArcGIS desktop software, including ArcMap and ArcPro.
• Strong understanding of geodatabases and geodatabase applications.
• Ability to use and edit shapefiles and geodatabases (personal, file, and enterprise).
• Experience working with different coordinate systems, map projections, and datums.
• Previous work in/familiarity with consulting engineers and/or surveyors.
• Experience using AutoCAD and DWG files.
• Experience using Google Earth and KMZ files.
• Familiar with LiDAR datasets and usage.
• Ability to independently manage multiple assignments, determine and set job task priorities, and work with limited direct supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, managers, and clients.
• Real Estate license or Land Certifications, CPL (Certified Professional Landman), RPL (Registered Professional Landman), CRA (Certified Right of Way Agent), CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member), CLC (Certified Land Consultant)) are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to frequently lift or move items up to 10 pounds.
• Must be able to occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds.

Travel: As required; potential for overnights is approximately 25%
