Job Description:
Spherion Mid Ohio, in partnership with The JM Smucker Company, is seeking an organized and efficient Lab Technician to support the Smucker Microbiological Lab Team in Orrville, Ohio . This position will begin on a 3 month contract with possible extension and offers a fantastic opportunity to gain experience within a Fortune 500 organization.
Position Overview:
The Lab Technician will assist the Microbiology Lab Team with testing and analysis of food product swabs and samples. They will perform media preparation, testing, analysis, reporting, sanitation, and lab projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Microbiology and analytical testing and reporting
- Media preparation
- General laboratory upkeep and ordering supplies
- Maintain International Organization for Standardization (ISO)/International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 17025 accredited methods
- Routine testing/reporting for internal customers
- Other laboratory projects as needed
Skills and Requirements:
- Microbiological experience/training
- General laboratory experience - including knowledge of lab sanitation procedures and ISO/IEC 17025
- Aseptic technique knowledge and experience preferred
- Strong chemistry and mathematics background
- Good computer knowledge and skills
- Highly adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated, high energy level, positive attitude
- Willing and helpful attitude to help and support team members
- Attention to detail
- Professional demeanor and communication skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on occasion
Pay Rate: $21/hour (approximately $43,680 annually)
Education:
Four year college degree is preferred, or comparable microbiology lab/aseptic technique experience. Preferred degree in Microbiology/Food Science or related field.
Schedule/Location:
This is a full time position, offering 40 hours/week. Scheduled hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm. This position will work 100% onsite on the Smucker campus in Orrville, Ohio.
Contract Length:
This position will begin on a 3 month contract with the possibility of contract extension.
