Annual Salary Range: $93,000 - $120,000 depending on professional experience.
Position status and work arrangement: Exempt, Full-time in San Diego, CA, on-site daily for a two-month training period. Afterward, on-site at least two days per week.
Target start date: April 2023
Job Summary:
The IT Sys. Administrator II will supervise a small team, review, and approve timesheets, conduct performance reviews, and be hands-on with technical tasking. This position reports directly to the IT Manager and will operate, maintain, and troubleshoot internal systems and assist in server administration—the IT Sys. Administrator II will use their IT experience to provide end-user support and resolve technical issues to meet the needs of our in-house and remote teams. This position provides technical support to staff, assists with troubleshooting, and develops their team—the IT Sys. Administrator II will help identify the root cause of technical problems and work to resolve issues promptly.
The ideal candidate has demonstrated technical skills and proven experience managing direct reports, delegating, and prioritizing tasks, and excellent communication and time management skills are a must in this position.
This individual must be patient and confident in their ability to diagnose and simplify technical explanations to users.
Duties:
- Provision and track user workstations, printers, and related equipment.
- Responsible for installing, configuring, administering, and maintaining workstations, servers, and network systems, including associated hardware.
- Issue employee ID cards and security tokens.
- Provide front-line technical support to employees.
- Help manage critical server systems.
- Perform system setups for new employees.
- Manage IT inventory and conduct routine audits.
- Maintain and order IT supplies as needed.
- Monitor incoming support requests and respond promptly.
- Employ Terraform, Ansible, and Docker tools to automate/control provisioning.
- Ability to work independently and motivated to seek opportunities for process improvement.
- Participate in scrum meetings and provide regular progress reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications / Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Attributes:
- U.S. Citizenship to obtain Security Clearance.
- Have active Security+ and Linux+ certifications or acquire certifications within an established timeframe once hired.
- Bachelor's degree in Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent work experience).
- 2+ Years of demonstrated leadership and management experience with at least two direct reports.
- 5+ Years of professional experience in Help Desk / IT Support.
- 5+ Years of professional with Linux or Unix.
- 5+ Years of professional with Bash Scripting and Command-Line.
- 2+ Years of professional with Windows 10 or later.
- Strong problem-solving, research capabilities, time management, and task prioritization.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and with the team.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. as physical labor is required.
- Ability to work in the San Diego office at least two days per week, after the initial two-month training period.
- Must be available to work between 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. PST.
- Must have consistent and reliable transportation to and from work.
- Successfully complete a Moebius-designed technical assessment.
Preferences:
- Active Secret Security Clearance is a plus.
- Extensive Linux operating system administration.
- Experience with Programming: C/C++, Python, Java, or similar.
- Experience with Specific OSes: Ubuntu, CentOS/RedHat.
- Experience with Web Proxies: HAProxy, Nginx, HTTPD.
- Experience with Web/Application Servers: Apache, JBoss.
- Experience with Crypto key management: PKI tokens, SSH keys.
- Experience with Configuration Automation: Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins.
- Experience with Version Control Software (preferably Git).
- Experience with Container/Virtualization: VirtualBox, VMWare, Docker, Kubernetes, RedShift, AWS.
