Position Overview
Raymour & Flanigan's Systems Team is looking for a candidate with positive influence, who can provide technical experience, guidance, in effort to continue the team's role of excellence. The Associate Systems Administrator professional is responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, troubleshooting, and daily administration of systems architecture. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Work with The Systems Team to plan, coordinate and perform system maintenance, software installations and upgrades, patch management and documentation.
- Work with The Systems Team to regularly update and adjust our technology strategic plan to assure we meet and are aligned with our business objectives.
- Conduct hardware and software research and evaluations to determine if they will deliver their value and meet our needs, and perform testing of regular maintenance activities.
- Work with The Systems Team to automate regular management tasks and streamline processes.
- Support our user's needs, including troubleshooting, account maintenance and training.
- Maintain and monitor systems in our 24 x 7 environment to ensure they are operating optimally.
- Work with vendors and team members to determine and enforce system specifications while enforcing best practices.
- Work with vendors and team members to harden systems with security focused best practices, monitor, control, evaluate systems, and maintain supporting documentation.
- Participate in the conceptual phases of identifying and solving business problems and initiatives
- Work with business departmental teams to help define and meet business requirements for new and existing initiatives.
- Continued training and personal growth, participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining professional networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Always act and communicate with our internal customers professionally and with an empathetic customer centric attitude.
- Perform additional functions that may be assigned at the discretion of management.
Required Skills and Experience
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of database or network administration or system administration experience.
- Exposure/basic understanding of virtualization, VMWare or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
- Ability to plan, communicate, and execute essential job functions with minimal direction.
- Problem solving skills and the ability to understand and research an issue.
- Ability to help create and map business needs/application requirements to technical solutions.
- Experience with debugging and log analysis.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Must be a team player and be able to communicate well with the IT team and stakeholders.
- Willingness and eagerness to learn and grow.
- On call rotation, one week duty interval, repeating every 5-6 weeks.
