The IT Systems team's core responsibilities include access management, Systems/SaaSOps, traditional software, hardware, and the office's networking infrastructure at our offices. Additionally, to ensure that Betterment, its customers, and its staff are well-secured and aligned with our regulatory and legal requirements, we work closely with InfoSec/Risk and Security Departments on a continual basis. We are looking for a skilled and highly motivated IT Systems Engineer to play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing our diverse Software as a Service (SaaS) systems and Mac endpoint fleet. As our fleet grows, we need an individual who will help ensure that our processes and user experience are able to scale through automation and simplified workflows; who desires to deliver integrations, features and updates that are stable, sustainable, and well documented; and who is enthusiastic about improving efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess advanced troubleshooting skills; be capable of providing expert assistance with support escalations; confidently and comfortably administer, modify, and enhance our systems; and eager to deploy new features and improvements.
This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range we would offer for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment's total compensation package for employees.

A day in the life- Serve as a technical resource for the IT Systems/Infrastructure team, and technical partners for our cross-functional collaborators.
- Assist in administration, documentation, maintenance and monitoring of Google Workspace, Okta, Slack, Zoom, Atlassian suite.
- Partner up with other business units on SaaS integrations and their technical projects.
- Act as one of our macOS and Jamf Pro subject matter experts and help maintain our current Jamf Pro infrastructure, as well as architect improvements based on Betterment's growth and security requirements.
- Identify, propose, develop, evaluate, and implement solutions that solve technical areas of operation while maintaining compliance requirements; delivering stable, and reliable systems and services that improve everyday tasks for Betterment's workforce.
- Partner with the Security and Risk Teams to maintain our endpoint security baseline and ensure quick response to critical vulnerabilities.
- Using alerts, create or update automations using Okta Workflow or BetterCloud.
- Work on SOC audits to ensure IT is following guidelines and making sure administrators/owners of systems are accounted for.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to our SaaS services and applications making configuration changes as required following our Change Management Process.
- Assure hardware, software, and services are provisioned, documented, patched, and otherwise maintained in accordance with organizations policies and procedures.
- Respond to business-critical emergencies both during and after business hours.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, providing exceptional support to the organization outside of regular business hours.
- Attend conferences or classes to further your skills and knowledge.
- Minimum 4 years of experience managing SaaS tools and Mac endpoints
- Strong experience managing and supporting MacOS user environments, Okta, Google Workspace, Jamf, Slack Grid, Zoom, Duo or other comparable SaaS technologies
- Deep knowledge of Apple/Mac-specific technologies: system extensions, PPPC, configuration profiles, security context, login / boot process, file system, permissions, SIP, MDM, packaging, etc.
- Proficient in scripting (bash/shell, Python, and/or Ruby), familiar with CI/CD and automated testing tools; and experienced with version control tools such as Git
- Experience with web services, rest APIs, cloud workflow and data integration tools such as BetterCloud, Zappier, SnapLogic, or MuleSoft
- Skilled in confidentially handling sensitive information, effective in both independent and team settings, with strong communication skills and experience in technical documentation development
- General knowledge of AWS, and/or experience with other cloud service providers: GCP, Azure
- General experience with MFA tools such as Duo, Okta Verify
- Nice to haves:
- Jamf 200 or 300 Certification, Bettercloud Certification, and Okta Certified Professional
- Strong Experience managing MFA tools
- Experience operating Meraki network infrastructure
- Experience working with Managed Service Providers
- Experience with some or all the following: Infrastructure as code (terraform, ansible, etc), DevOps, LeanIT and Agile/Kanban
