Position Title: Information Technology (IT) Specialist
Reports to: Executive Vice President
Location: Boston, MA – Downtown Crossing area
MG2 Group is seeking a skilled IT Specialist to provide overall coordination of IT support functions for various departments and subsidiaries with differing needs. In this role, you will manage and coordinate the activities and operation of the information technology department; oversee the planning and execution of projects and protect the integrity of information and maintain the technical facilities that aid in that protection.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the lead technician for all company offices; provides first level technical support to users concerning hardware, software, and networking problems.
- Provide technical support for each different company office/entity, i.e., Corporate, Hospitality, Construction, Property Management, and Farm.
- Ensure security systems (including cameras) at each company office are installed correctly and functioning properly. Ensuring the security of each site.
- Investigates user problems and identifies the source. Determine possible solutions and assist with implementing solution.
- Creates network and email accounts for new users. Setup laptops, desktops, iPads, and other company assets for new hires.
- Disable email accounts when employees terminate. Back up data and prepare laptop for reassignment.
- Updates the company phone lists and email address books/distribution lists.
- Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure.
- Help define IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes.
- Analyze business requirements by partnering with each department/entity across the company to develop solutions for IT needs.
- Assists with the administration and maintenance of company telephone systems.
- Implementation, analysis, repair, and/or modifications of: POS system (Toast), Office systems (internal servers, Microsoft 365/Outlook, Dropbox, antivirus and more), Accounting software (Restaurant 365 & AppFolio)
- Analyze current overall technology infrastructure and align it with the organization’s strategic business plan.
- Ensure the security of the business and assets and stay ahead of cyber security threats.
- Develop and maintain a disaster recovery plan for the technical systems and network.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field is required. Or equivalent years of experience.
- 1-2 years of related experience in a professional IT environment preferred.
- Ability and willingness to work primarily in-office in the Downtown Crossing area of Boston, while also traveling to other office locations as needed.
- Strong understanding of security issues pertaining to information, computer, and network resources.
- Understanding of information security technologies, products, and practical applications.
- Working knowledge of computer operating systems and networking technologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Experience working in a small company is a plus.
- Proven ability to work with various software programs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
