Overview:

The Financial Crimes & Intelligence Investigative Support Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the investigations and fraud mitigation efforts for the Financial Crimes & Intelligence team. The ideal candidate should have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a solid understanding of investigative practices and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Correspond with internal stakeholders and members to request and validate relevant information and documentation
  • Engage with other financial institutions and law enforcement agencies to request or confirm information
  • Conduct research and gather information to support investigations
  • Collaborate with investigators to gather additional information, follow- up on leads and support case progression
  • Utilize various tools, databases, and software to assist in data analysis and research activities
  • Analyze data, documents, and other evidence to identify patterns, trends, or discrepancies relevant to ongoing investigations
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of industry best practices, trends and emerging technologies related to Fraud and AML prevention and investigation
  • Prepare and respond to inbound and outbound Indemnification agreements
  • Prepare and respond to Without Entry claim process
  • Develop and maintain MCU’s formal criminal restitution program
  • Prepare correspondence, reports and presentations as directed by the investigative team

Make recommendations to management for improving operational efficiencies

  • Receive and manage and/or escalate incoming calls
  • Receive and coordinate incoming referrals and emails
  • Develop job aides and procedures
  • Consolidate Journal entry request logs for distribution to the appropriate department
  • Coordinate and distribute Regulation CC notifications
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation for legal proceeding or regulatory inquiries
  • Prepare and mail member correspondence
  • Gather and distribute incoming and outgoing mail
  • Participate in special projects as assigned
  • Support Financial Crimes & Intelligence team as necessary
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of fraud analysis and investigation experience in the financial industry
  • Omni- channel experience to include but not limited to ACH, Wire, Check Fraud, Identity Theft, etc.
  • BA degree in Criminal Justice, Business, or Accounting, related field or work experience required or a combination of both
  • Industry recognized certifications, (I.e. - CFE, is a plus but not required)
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Federal/State/Local criminal statutes, bank regulatory, and compliance issues
  • Flexible hours as required
  • The ability to maintain confidential information
  • Proven initiative to be a self-starter and proactive approach
  • Professional appearance demeanor
  • Must be able to demonstrate a team mentality
