Summary
Valley County is looking for an Inventory System Specialist to maintain its inventory management software system and develop a modernized inventory control process for the Road & Bridge Department.
This position will require someone to learn a new inventory control software application without the benefit of a local trainer to instruct them. This will require independent research and initiative on their part to locate training materials and become proficient with the software. In addition to learning the new inventory software, the individual selected for this position will also be responsible for developing and implementing inventory control processes that will work in conjunction with the new software, including developing procedure manuals and training new and existing staff in the new processes. This position will also be expected to provide clerical assistance and customer service support for the Road Department as needed.
Physical Requirements
While performing duties, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, use hands to type, handle materials, or manipulate tools used in performing the essential functions of the position, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this classification include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing abilities required by this position includes those which permit the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person or by telephone. While performing the duties of this position, the employee works in an office setting where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee is frequently exposed to shop noise, diesel exhaust, and noxious fumes.
We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with good computer skills and a strong comfort level with learning new software applications. Good writing skills and experience with training others is also required. Previous experience in inventory control, technical writing, or developing policies and procedures is desired but not required.
