The Eugene Water & Electric Board has a summer internship opportunity available to motivated college students or recent graduates who are interested in marketing and communications in public/government service. At EWEB we strive to provide internships that are rewarding, both academically and professionally. Internships with EWEB are an excellent way to gain professional work experience related to your college major and desired career path, and to start building your professional resume.
Through this internship you will develop your knowledge of the water and energy industry, be exposed to real world challenges, and enhance your marketing and communication skills. You will be engaged in marketing campaign planning, email and social media marketing, analytics, graphic design, event planning, and public engagement.
You will provide general communications support for EWEB's Communications & Marketing team, including:
- Writing and editing content for a variety of audiences and channels, focusing on digital platforms (social media, email, website)
- Planning and executing marketing campaigns for several energy/water efficiency and environmental programs
- Creating digital content including graphics and video
- Planning and providing support at community events, including tabling events and community meetings
Desired education:
- Junior, senior, recent graduate (within 6 months), or graduate student
- Major in Marketing and/or coursework in marketing research and strategy, marketing communications, and consumer behavior
Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
- Strong working knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter
- Competent with Adobe Creative Suite and social media tools
- Strong interpersonal skills to build collaborative relationships
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and creative abilities
- Ability to use data and insights to develop actionable recommendations
- Organized, with outstanding attention to detail to ensure accuracy
- Self-starter with skills to manage tasks
- Ability to interact in a positive, confident, and professional manner at all levels
Start date: July 10, 2023
Duration: Minimum of 8 weeks, up to 12 weeks (negotiable)
Hours & Schedule: Minimum of 20, up to 40 hours/week (negotiable). Working hours between 8am-5pm, with some nights and weekends for event support.
Compensation: $19-$21/hour, depending on experience
Location: This position is based in Eugene, Oregon. However, work will be conducted primarily via telecommuting, with on-site work as needed at local events or our headquarters at 4200 Roosevelt Boulevard, Eugene, OR 97402.

- Examples of your graphic design work, such as posters, social media graphics, infographics, or other visual elements for marketing campaigns.
- Examples of marketing campaigns you have helped plan. This can include outlining campaign goals, identifying target audiences, creating messages, and outlining tactics and strategies.
