Intern - Process Engineer

Compensation:

Part-time, Temporary $27.00/hr

Scope & Responsibilities of Intern Process Engineer:(Not limited to)

Process engineers are responsible for the design of manufacturing plans, processes, and equipment that transform crude oil into consumer products in a way that optimizes chemical processes, controls, and efficiency. The Intern will work closely with Engineers, Operations and Maintenance personnel to assist with project management and process improvement tasks gaining practical experience to match theoretical knowledge. Individuals in this role will have the opportunity to apply skills in chemical engineering principles such as thermodynamics, distillation, chemical reactions, and mass/heat transfer. This position will work to improve the sites engineering documentation systems and update process flow diagrams for the various operational areas.

• Gain exposure to principles and techniques related to core programs including but not limited to process safety management, management of change and incident investigations.
• Work to improve efficiency of the process unit operations through the collection and analysis of data.
• Collaborate with operations and other teams to troubleshoot any technically related issues impacting production.
• Monitor equipment performance and work to ensure reliability and maintenance strategies are compliant and effective.
• Reviews process design for alignment with engineering principles, company standards, contract requirements and equipment specification.

Education & Experience for Intern Process Engineer:

• Must be enrolled in an accredited higher education program pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related field.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher and be available to work up to 40 hours per week consistently.

Other Qualifications of Intern Process Engineer:

• Proficient in general office technologies including Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
• Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact with management, team members and external vendors.
• Possess above average critical analysis, and logic/reasoning skills and is proficient in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
• Exercises good judgement with ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
• Successful completion of all company mandated &/or job-related training programs deemed appropriate.

Physical & Cognitive Demands of Intern Process Engineer:

COGNITIVE DEMANDS: Meet deadlines, focus attention, work independently, independent judgments, work with a team, communication, instruct/synthesize, reading comprehension, critical thinking/troubleshooting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: seeing, speaking, hearing, smell, sitting, walk/climb, stand/reach, listening, writing, driving, keyboarding. Push/pull/lift/carry or otherwise transport 35 pounds.
