Position Title::Instructional Designer/Trainer

Position Summary::The Instructional Designer/Trainer will develop and maintain support resources/materials related to effective instructional strategies and the use of educational technologies for effective e-learning. This may include coordinating, developing and/or conducting faculty development sessions on course design, content delivery, accessibility (ADA/Section 504) of digital content; execution of required instructional processes; and the use of learning management system features and functionality.
Responsibilities also include but are not limited to, supporting faculty and college instructional support technology initiatives/needs; preparing and/or conducting related training sessions; evaluating course design; guiding faculty in the development of e-learning content that meets quality standards; maintaining appropriate records/files; researching and planning; and participating on committees, as assigned/approved by the employee’s manager.
The Instructional Designer/Trainer must possess good organizational and research skills, strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong computer skills with online instruction applications software, have a customer service focus and a strong work ethic.
This is a 12 month, full-time position that reports to the Director of Distance Education.
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or related field.
- Minimum two years of demonstrated success teaching/training technology-related content.
- Minimum two years of experience in teaching with and/or administering the Blackboard learning management system (LMS) or similar platform.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities::
- Proficient in the use of personal computers, presentation hardware/software, Email, virtual conferencing applications, and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Experienced with creating audio/video content for instruction or training.
- Experienced with creating content that meets accessibility standards.
- Documented ability to design and develop instructions, support materials, and training courses.
- Demonstrated success integrating educational technology tools (hardware, software, and web-based resources) into content design and delivery.
- Demonstrated success in providing technology support in an educational environment.

Duty and Responsibility::1. Remains current on methods of instruction and collaboration to enhance teaching and learning, and assists in the identification and development of recommendations and requirements for effective educational technology strategies and solutions.
Duty and Responsibility::2. Facilitates the use of educational technologies and instructional support applications (as assigned), which includes conferring with faculty to determine needs and technology capabilities; conducting course reviews and providing instructional design guidance; administering course software; and supporting users through developing documentation and conducting workshops on technology usage, course design, and related topics.
Duty and Responsibility::3. Participates in the preparation of and operational records and reports.
Duty and Responsibility::4. Designs content for instructional and support purposes; includes developing and/or posting web content; creating, editing, and manipulating graphics, images, audio, and video files; and/or performing related duties.
Duty and Responsibility::5. Serves the College by instructing one course per semester, based on credentials and academic needs (unless otherwise approved by the employee’s manager), and serving on College and State committees as required/approved by the employee’s manager.
