The Instructional Designer is responsible for the design and development of learning experiences that have a positive impact on our employees. We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic team member that will produce instructionally sound and visually engaging courses for use in eLearning modules, live classes, job aids, reinforcement resources, and other training materials to help facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies. The position will partner with subject matter experts who are the top talent in the A/E industry and collaborate within the Learning and Development team to support our culture of ingenuity.
The ideal candidate:

  • Utilizes instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and performance improvement processes to create engaging learning experiences and visually compelling course content which enhance knowledge retention and transfer to on-the-job application
  • Is an excellent and patient communicator, comfortable collaborating with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify training needs for the target audience, then translating into appealing instructional graphics, appropriate user interfaces and captivating finished products
  • Effectively defines learning objectives and creates engaging content to match
  • Enhances the learning process by providing unique exercises and activities through producing supportive material/media (case studies, simulations, role plays, games, etc.)
  • Very experienced in creating graphics that translate complex information into easily digestible ideas using a variety of visual design tools (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Articulate Storyline, PowerPoint)
  • Defines criteria to judge learners' performance and develop assessment instruments for measuring awareness, comprehension, and application
  • Possesses the ability to effectively combine text, animation, photography, audio, and video to create impactful content to support training programs
  • Maintains project documentation, course folders, and LMS data necessary to support course modules
  • Autonomously advances assigned project schedules and manages multiple projects simultaneously with the Learning & Development team. Tracks project status and tasks to provide progress updates on a consistent basis.
  • Participates in various training facilitation, project management, training program logistics, and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Contributes value to team brainstorming and strategy meetings with strong collaboration skills to help define goals and direction, excited to be part of a strong team
  • Is open to feedback during the iterative process of developing materials and solutions to training needs
  • Sharpens knowledge by keeping up to date on learning tools, trends, and ideas

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Approximately 4 years related proven work experience in instructional design and with instructional technology
  • BS or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology, visual design, or similar
  • Excellent Visual design skills (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere) and ability to storyboard
  • Expert skills for authoring with course development software including Articulate Storyline 360, Camtasia, SCORM, AICC formats
  • Experience in coordinating Leadership Development programs and designing appropriate content
  • Broad knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design models
  • Strong interpersonal skills in both client and team interactions as well as a willingness to engage with stakeholders on a regular basis, being highly collaborative
  • Experience in creating quality multi-media materials including video recordings, audio captures, audiovisual editing, and lighting setups for custom video production preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Learning Management System software strengthen candidacy
  • Curriculum/Program and course/class planning skills
  • Basic understanding of SharePoint, HTML and Flash programming; Experienced with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts using strong written and verbal English grammar, spelling, punctuation, usage & pronunciation
  • Experience facilitating training, either online asynchronous, online synchronous, and face to face sessions preferred
