JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Extended School Year (ESY) Summer Program Coordinator will work directly with the Director of Student Services to provide oversight of the ESY Summer Program. In collaboration with the Director of Student Services and the ESY staff, the Program Coordinator will monitor the implementation of the program curriculum, order necessary supplies, plan and arrange field trips and special events, and monitor the success of the program.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in special education or school administration required.
- MA certified in either intensive or moderate special needs or school administration.
- Prior experience working with students with special needs.
- Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Such other qualifications as the Director of Student Services may deem acceptable or appropriate.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2-5 years experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with the Director of Student Services, the ESY Summer Program Coordinator will:
- Prior to student arrival
- Coordinate the hiring of program staff: Screen, interview, recommend hires for all ESY positions
- Coordinate activity schedule with school and community organizations
- Collect ESY service documentation from special education administrator at all elementary schools, Morse Pond, Lawrence, FHS
- Develop master schedule, assign staffing, student groupings for all program and instructional services ages 3 - 21
- Coordinate pickup & distribution of furniture and materials from various district sites to high school with district maintenance department
- Order necessary supplies
- Coordinate building use, room assignments, operation and safety procedures with FHS front desk secretary and building principal.
- Advance communication/coordination with all ESY staff prior to first report date
- Coordinate transportation and family communication protocols
- Coordinate and facilitate first report date, meeting with ESY staff and room preparation
- Coordinate procedure/process for payroll reporting with student services department and business office
- During program operation (Mon - Thurs 7:45 am - 1:15 pm) through completion:
- Supervise daily arrival and departure of all students
- Communication with transportation and ESY staff for both daily transportation and field trips
- Coordinate substitute coverage for all ESY when needed and collaborate with FHS front desk secretary on substitute coverage and communication
- Communication with families and ESY staff related to student services and needs
- Coordination with student services, nursing services and staff regarding health, safety needs and IEP implementation
- Coordination with FHS building principal and other summer Program Coordinators at FHS regarding building wide safety protocol and procedure
- Conduct safety drills as necessary
- Coordinate collection and submission of bi-weekly payroll with student services and business office
- Work with parents and students as necessary
- Lead staff meetings as needed, providing updates and advice to the team, including parents and guardians
- Work collaboratively with ESY staff to provide effective student support.
- Collaborate with student services on file and report collection of individual student reports
- Coordinate each classroom packing and redistribution of furniture and materials to home sites with district maintenance department
- Complete room, radio, key and other logistical elements with FHS front desk secretary and FHS maintenance staff
COMPENSATION: Stipend - $10,000
