Position Summary:
The People Services Intern will assist the People Services team with recruitment, benefits, and hiring actions. This intern will learn to and support the PS team in ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant company and labor practices and personnel actions and provide logistical support for the recruiting. The position is responsible for interacting with many different people on the team as well as potential vendors, contractors, and other providers.
This internship will last 3 months from around June 3rd, 2023 – August 30th, with the start date being flexible depending on school schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the People Services team in posting job openings and reviewing resumes; coordinate interviews and communicate with candidates
- Assist in new employee orientation and onboarding
- Contribute to training program coordination
- Assist in maintaining employee records in our HRIS system
- Assist in handling employee inquiries and requests
- Contribute to the resolution of basic employee issues
- Develop an understanding of employer benefit programs and administration
- Develop a current knowledge of HR Laws and Regulations
- Work with the People Services team to assist with enhancing certain policies and procedures
- Assist the team in gathering needed information and documents required to see initiatives to completion
- Develop a strong working relationship with all McWhinney associates
- Assist BSA’s, EA’s and others on the People Services team in all aspects of scheduling/coordinating and other tasks as needed
- This internship is open to current Undergraduate or Graduate students at the time of internship
- Studying Business Administration, Human Resources, Psychology, or any other related field preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to be a team player
- Must have a strong commitment to confidentiality
- The ideal candidate would be driven creatively, provide new perspective and not afraid to break barriers
- Candidates must demonstrate flexibility and the ability to adapt to changes in work priorities
- This internship will operate on a hybrid schedule with 50% of hours required to be in-person
