Expected pay range: $55,000 - $67,500.
Summary and Scope
The Human Resources Generalist (HR Gen 1) is a key position within the Employee Support Center’s (ESC) Corporate HR Section. The ESC is a 24/7/365 support operation that provides HR and Compliance related assistance to employees. The ESC assists employees through a variety of methods (phone, email, text, in-person), but operates primarily in a call center (remote) environment. When not answering support tickets, the ESC is divided into two sections Corporate HR and Field HR.
The Corporate HR section primarily focuses on tasks/activities that are compliance based/corporate in nature. These tasks are typically more frequent, shorter in duration (more transactional) activities. Some examples include (but not limited to) employee onboarding, new hire orientation, HR lifeguard program, compliance reporting, employee classification, status changes, policy management (handbook), compensation analysis, and other HR-related projects (TRUE GENERALISTS).
The Field HR section primarily focuses on developing relationships with field managers and departments leaders to deliver HR initiatives/activities across the organization. Some examples include (but not limited to) employee relations (including investigations), field- based trainings, performance management, compliance/labor postings, exit interviews, and other HR-related projects.
This is not your typical HR environment and employees must be willing to champion our culture and roll up their sleeves to support our employees and our mission. The four main objectives of this position are (1) to provide support to our employees’ by providing solutions to daily HR service tickets (through phone/email/text), (2) to serve as an HR Lifeguard (help onboard new employees/swimmers) each week, (3) to support HR functional areas on tasks/projects, and (4) to grow and develop as an HR Professional.
Essential Functions
To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. This position works under direct supervision most of the time. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
- Works in the Employee Support Center (ESC) and performs a variety of HR Generalist tasks to resolve employee issues.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Provides onboarding support to new hires (HR Lifeguard program); ensures completion of all required onboarding tasks and helps employees understand and fit into our culture.
- Provides Tier 1 & 2 level support by assisting employees with a variety of HR-related issues; offers solutions that are timely, accurate, and culturally appropriate.
- Provides support to HR functional leads that varies in time, scope, HR discipline, and skill-level.
- Assists employees in completing security clearance paperwork with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Consistently uses work assignments and feedback to grow and develop HR skills and competencies.
- Implements employee training and development initiatives in collaboration with HR Leadership.
- Escalates issues to the employee relations team.
- Assists with reporting HR-related metrics weekly (or as needed); metrics used to improve cultural and business outcomes.
- Leads specific HR-related projects (low impact) as assigned, researching, progressing, and coordinating projects and making recommendations for future action.
- Participates in annual benefit renewals and open enrollment processes in coordination with corporate directives.
- Supports, communicates, reinforces, and upholds the mission, CREST values, and culture of the organization.
- Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent, required.
- 4+ years’ Human Resources experience, to include:
- Experience with HR Services and HR Administration duties.
- Conducting new hire orientations and onboarding tasks.
- Experience in government contracting, manufacturing, logistics, or operations is a plus.
- Previous service center experience is desired.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
Physical Demands
This is a full-time position based remotely. The work hours will be discussed and agreed upon but are subject to change based on the needs of the business. This incumbent must be flexible and able to work varying schedules typically between 7 am – 10 pm (EST) M-F, and weekends as needed. However, due to the nature of our work, all employees must be available 24/7/365 as needed. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends is required based on needs.
Expected Hours of Work
The ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends will be required based on contract needs. It is expected for this position to attend regular meetings during typical work hours in Eastern Standard Time as well as meetings as needed for assigned projects in other time zones.
Work Environment
This job operates remotely (from home) but does travel to field locations occasionally. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smartphones, and presentation materials. There is an expectation of clear communication in English both written and orally.
Travel
This position requires up to 10% travel. Travel is dependent on contract load. The ability to travel to job sites and be away for extended periods of time based on contract needs is required. Short notice travel is required with 24-48 hours’ notice.
Work Authorization
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS)
- Must pass a drug test, motor vehicle record check, and a background check upon accepting a conditional offer of employment.
- Must possess a valid driver's license. Have/maintain a clean driving record.
