This is a freelancer/independent contractor position
- Remote work; however, must be local (New England Area) and within commutable distance of Greater Boston area (as you may be needed locally on occasions).
- Part-time (up to 30 hours/week) with potential growth in the future.
- Can work at anytime BUT must be reachable during client's office hours (9am to 3pm EST).

Job Description:
The HR Consultant will report to the Director of Operations and Strategy and collaborate with the Founding Executive Director and other team members as required. The HR Consultant will play a crucial role in drafting comprehensive job descriptions, consultant agreements, managing the onboarding paperwork for new hires and consultants, and conducting benchmarking for rates and fees.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1) Drafting:
- Collaborate with hiring managers to gather information about open positions.
- Develop clear, concise, consistent and compelling job descriptions that accurately represent the roles and responsibilities.
2) Consultant Agreement Preparation:
- Work closely with the legal team to create consultant agreements that align with legal and organizational standards.
- Ensure that consultant agreements clearly outline project scope, deliverables, timelines, and compensation terms.
3) Onboarding Paperwork Management:
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new employees and consultants.
- Prepare and distribute necessary paperwork, including contracts, tax forms, and other required documentation.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of all onboarding paperwork.
4) Benchmarking for Rates and Fees:
- Conduct market research to benchmark and analyze compensation rates and fees for consultants and employees in the nonprofit sector.
- Provide recommendations to ensure that the organization's compensation structures remain competitive and aligned with industry standards.
5) Policy Compliance:
- Stay informed about relevant labor laws and regulations, particularly those applicable to nonprofit organizations.
- Advise and assist the organization in maintaining compliance with HR policies and procedures.
6) Collaboration and Communication:
- Foster effective communication between HR, hiring managers, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure continuity of all HR communications with all stakeholders.
- Provide guidance to hiring managers on best practices for recruitment, job postings, and candidate selection.
Qualifications
What we need:
- At least 5 years experience as an HR professional, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
- Proficient in drafting job descriptions and consultant agreements.
- Experience in benchmarking compensation rates and fees.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with onboarding processes and documentation.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with an ability to communicate across numerous platforms, including Asana, Slack, Google docs, and email.
- Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong proficiency with technology, including office and virtual collaboration tools (Asana, Adobe, Slack, Neon, and Google Workspace a plus).
- Project management skills including adherence to deadlines.

This is not a position for someone new to the field. We are looking for someone with proven experience as an HR Consultant. You should be able to dive right into this position as we are in the middle of expanding our team.
